Iran’s Ministry of Transport Introduces Mobile App To Process QR Code Payments For Strait Of Hormuz Transit
TEHRAN — The Ministry of Roads and Urban Development launched a new mobile application for maritime transit payments.
Furthermore, this digital tool allows shipping companies to pay transit fees for the Strait of Hormuz via QR codes.
In addition, officials in Bandar Abbas believe the system will greatly reduce wait times for international vessels.
Consequently, tankers can now scan the code directly from their bridge consoles to complete transactions.
Meanwhile, Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash stated that the app improves regional trade efficiency and security.
Additionally, the software supports multiple currencies to facilitate smoother global commerce through the narrow waterway.
Most importantly, the platform integrates with existing port management systems to track every ship movement.
Therefore, captains no longer need to handle physical paperwork or manual bank transfers during their passage.
As a result, local authorities expect thousands of daily users to adopt this modern payment method immediately.
Finally, the ministry plans to expand these digital services to other Iranian ports soon.
